Political Kitsch newspaper Rat was founded by a generation experiencing social change, sexual awareness and evolutionary growth. Kurt Vonnegut, William S Burroughs, members of the Black Panther Party, Kathleen Cleaver, Jane Alpert, Huey Newton and Afeni Shakur have written articles published in Rat. Murray Bookchin, a founding writer for Rat, most notably engaged the anti-globalaziation movement through this publication in the late 90’s.
